This is an opportunity to
acquire a unique piece of history. Yolanda has been fortunate enough to acquire
a beautiful range of Colonial Four Poster Beds from a gentleman, whose
grandfather was the Maharajah in Manshipurah. These had been stores in a shed
in India since 1947 and are known to be made around 1820. These beds were
constructed for British Army command in the mid 19th Century and were made to
be flat packed so they could be transported on military exercises
and also hot weather into the hills. These beds display superb workmanship.
They were made when the Raj was at its height and often denoted the title and
rank of its occupier.
They range from all sizes and
prices and display Nobleman emblems built into the crown. They are easy to
assemble and is made of sisoo wood; a member of the rosewood family. For the
complete look, mattresses can be made to measure accompanied by beautiful
crewelwork.
The bed dimensions below, for
all our Colonial Four Poster and Standard beds refer to the mattress size
required, not the external bed dimensions.
Our range of Colonial Four Poster Beds start from £1,500. |
